Hogla “Deida” Cortez, a proud Sunnyside, WA native!

Deida graduated from Whitworth University in 2024 with a BA in Political Science (Pre-Law emphasis) and Spanish Language and Literature, with aspirations to become a lawyer one day. She is a huge advocate for language access in legal services and is pleased to provide Spanish support for our clients and attorneys.

During Deida’s undergraduate years, she studied abroad in Tanzania for a semester, gaining insight into East African politics, international relations, global citizenship, and the relationship between religious institutions and the Tanzanian government. She spent another semester studying contemporary politics and Spanish history at the University of Granada in Spain, enhancing her fluency in the Spanish language and deepening her understanding of European political systems.

Additionally, she spent some time in Washington, D.C., interning at the United States Department of Agriculture and related not-for-profit organizations, where she gained experience providing advocacy and support for farmworkers and those facing complex immigration issues. These efforts included an invitation from United Farm Workers to provide a testimony at the White House, which was Deida’s most cherished moment.

Outside of work, you can find Deida at the gym, traveling, running, playing volleyball, or on the water; kayaking, fishing, swimming, or on a boat! She truly loves spending time and eating food with her family here in the US and in Mexico.
